Ongoing Commitments

At the Central Northeast Health Foundation, our commitment to healthcare extends beyond funding medical equipment. We are proud to support programs that provide comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to patients and families throughout the central northeastern region of Newfoundland.

JPMRHC C.A.R.E.S. Program

Clothing Assistance Resource: Emergency Support

The James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre (JPMRHC) C.A.R.E.S. Program provides clean, comfortable clothing to individuals who arrive at the Emergency Department with clothing that has been soiled, damaged, or retained as part of forensic testing.

Originally developed to support individuals who have experienced sexual assault or other traumatic events requiring forensic examinations, the program has expanded to assist any patient in need of clean, appropriate clothing during their Emergency Department visit.

Why It Matters

Experiencing a medical emergency or traumatic event can leave individuals feeling vulnerable and overwhelmed. The C.A.R.E.S. Program helps preserve comfort, dignity, and privacy by ensuring patients have access to appropriate clothing during an already difficult time.

How the Program Works

  • Patients are discreetly provided with clean clothing when their own clothing has been compromised.
  • Forensic patients receive replacement clothing while their garments are collected for evidence and testing.
  • All services are delivered with the utmost respect for patient confidentiality, privacy, and dignity.

How You Can Help

Donations to the C.A.R.E.S. Program help ensure clothing is readily available for patients when they need it most. If you have new, or gently used clothing to donate please connect with us at 709-256-5742.

In the coming months, we will also be organizing a community clothing drive for new or gently used clothing in support of this important initiative.

Free Amoena Compression Bra Program

The Central Northeast Health Foundation and Verge of Wellness Inc. – Medical Supplies & Uniforms are pleased to offer the Free Amoena Compression Bra Program to patients within the central northeastern region of Newfoundland and Labrador who are undergoing lumpectomy or mastectomy procedures.

Patients are professionally fitted by an Amoena representative at Verge of Wellness to ensure they receive the bra best suited to their needs and the appropriate level of compression.

Why It Matters

Following breast surgery, compression garments can play an important role in recovery by:

  • Encouraging healthy lymphatic drainage
  • Helping reduce the risk of edema and swelling
  • Improving physical comfort during recovery
  • Providing support during an overwhelming and stressful time

We are proud to offer this program and provide patients with this small but meaningful piece of support during their healing journey.

JPMRHC Pediatric Clinic Treasure Box Program

The Central Northeast Health Foundation is committed to keeping the JPMRHC Pediatric Clinic Treasure Box stocked for children visiting our regional health facility.

The Treasure Box Program provides small rewards and comforting items to pediatric patients following treatments, tests, procedures, and other difficult medical experiences.

Why It Matters

Hospital visits can be scary and overwhelming for children. The Treasure Box Program helps provide:

  • Comfort and encouragement
  • Positive reinforcement and distraction
  • Joy during difficult medical experiences
  • A more child-friendly healthcare environment

Treasure boxes are stocked with toys, games, activity items, and other comforting surprises to help ease fear and anxiety and create positive experiences for children receiving care.

Making a Difference Together

These ongoing commitments reflect our belief that healthcare is about more than treatment alone. By supporting programs that provide comfort, dignity, and compassionate care, we are helping improve the experiences of patients and families throughout our region.

Thank you for helping us make healthcare better, together.
